With the recent box office success of X-Men Origins: Wolverine, Twentieth Century Fox has started development on a Wolverine sequel and Deadpool spin-off. Ryan Reynolds is set to star in the spin-off after playing the role of Deadpool in Wolverine.

Deadpool has been called the “Merc with a Mouth” who is a high-tech mercenary superhero known for his wisecracks aka the perfect role for Ryan Reynolds. Deadpool becomes disfigured and mentally unstable after undergoing the Canadian government’s Weapon X program in order to cure his terminal cancer.

Wolverine’s sequel is said to be set in Japan as hinted by one of the post-credits scenes featured after X-Men Origins: Wolverine.
