Following last year’s jaw dropping E3 cinematic trailer for Star Wars: The Old Republic, BioWare has once again outdone themselves and manged to make a trailer that is even more bad-ass than last year’s and better than anything George Lucas has done in the past 20 years. Although recent gameplay footage has shown that the actual game will be nowhere near as epic as this pre-rendered trailer; The Old Republic still looks like it might have what it takes to go head to head with World of Warcraft and maybe even make up for Sony Online Entertainment’s disaster of an MMO — Star Wars Galaxies.

Now that J.J. Abrams’ 2009 reboot of Star Trek is available on Blu-ray and DVD, fanboys have been carefully going over ever second of footage in order to find the hidden R2D2 cameo that has been rumored to occur somewhere during the film. It happens so quick (1-2 seconds) that the only way to catch it would be by going frame by frame in high definition at the time frame 45:42. I don’t know much about Star Trek or Star Wars lore — but according to George Costanza, aren’t worlds supposed to explode when something like this happens? I mean he was a Marine Biologist. They study space right? Check out the HQ pics after the jump.

Strong with this one, the Force is not. Yet another addition to the Star Wars Expanded Universe (a.k.a. the consumer pipeline to George Lucas’ wallet), the computer animated film is not essential viewing unless you’re a hardcore fan. However, even loyal followers of the epic space saga will struggle to embrace what feels like an extended afterschool special without commercials. That’s because Star Wars: The Clone Wars is essentially a feature-length advertisement for the new TV series on Cartoon Network. The film’s greatest strength is its action, which takes full advantage of swinging camera angles and captures a good sense of fantasy battle chaos. But beyond those parts, the movie languishes because the limp plot is devoid of any real drama or significance. It doesn’t help that the character models are nothing spectacular and exhibit stiff movement during walking and stoic expressions during talking. And after way too many uncharacteristic (and pathetic) jabs at humor, it becomes clear that this is aimed at kids. Adults might like The Clone Wars, but only on home video once they’re equipped with mute and fast-forward options.
