  • Avatar: The Game Actually Looks Pretty Good 0 CommentsPosted by Paul Curtin on November 28, 2009 under Video Game News

It’s common knowledge that video games based on movies are always awful, and vice-versa; yet, as technology and video games sales both improve drastically, so has the quality of games based on movies. Just last January, Lord of the Rings: Conquest was released and to the shock of many who played the demo, was surprisingly good. While the game was very well-made, many still felt it wasn’t worth the $59.99 purchase price with other huge games being released around the same time such as F.E.A.R. 2, Killzone 2, Mirror’s Edge, Saints Row 2 and Street Fighter IV.

Now, one year later, James Cameron’s Avatar: The Game is set for release this Tuesday and is looking very promising and even has a similar multiplayer game style as Lord of the Rings: Conquest. But will the game be the blockbuster hit that many believe the movie will be or will it be left in the shadows of this year’s best games? With the recent releases of some of the best games ever made such as Assassin’s Creed II, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, Left 4 Dead 2 and Uncharted 2; it will be hard for Avatar The Game to win over hardcore video game fans and sell copies to anybody who isn’t a fan of the movie. Hit the jump for a HD video preview of the multiplayer gameplay from Avatar The Game. (more…)

  • Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2: Extra Scene During Credits and Extra Level After 1 CommentsPosted by Paul Curtin on November 10, 2009 under PC, Playstation 3, Post-credits Extra, Scene During Credits, Video Games, Xbox 360

The credits of Modern Warfare 2 take place in a 3D museum created by Infinity Ward. The museum is filled with various exhibits displaying the main characters taking part in different important scenes from the game.

Not only is the extra scene in the museum one of the best extra scenes during credits ever, but after completion of the credits, players can actually play the museum as a level by using the mission select feature. Similar to the movie Night at the Museum, the player has the option to push a button and bring all the characters on display to life. However, there are no good guys here as all the displays will try to kill you once the button is pushed. There are three rooms full of exhibits, two of which have tons of soldiers and even dogs that can be activated by pressing the buttons.

There is also a picture after the credits with all the Task Force 141 members posing together and the writing, “TASK FORCE 141 DOOM ON YOU MR. TANGO!” on the picture and the option to Continue to Special Ops underneath.

Check out the video of the extra scene during the credits. (more…)

The day has finally come, the second coming of Jesu… Call of Duty: Modern Warfare! GameStop is reporting that pre-orders of Modern Warfare 2 have surpassed any other game in history. Last night 10,000 stores around the world opened at midnight to sell MW2, resulting in more than 4.7 million copies being sold. And today the world is feeling its wrath as employees, students, even celebrities phone in sick days in order to conquer the campaign mode and/or rank up online. Hey, if Ice T is busy playing MW2, that means Coco is alone and in need of attention… if only I could… screw it, I’m going back to playing multiplayer.
