  • Avatar: The Game Actually Looks Pretty Good 0 CommentsPosted by Paul Curtin on November 28, 2009 under Video Game News

It’s common knowledge that video games based on movies are always awful, and vice-versa; yet, as technology and video games sales both improve drastically, so has the quality of games based on movies. Just last January, Lord of the Rings: Conquest was released and to the shock of many who played the demo, was surprisingly good. While the game was very well-made, many still felt it wasn’t worth the $59.99 purchase price with other huge games being released around the same time such as F.E.A.R. 2, Killzone 2, Mirror’s Edge, Saints Row 2 and Street Fighter IV.

Now, one year later, James Cameron’s Avatar: The Game is set for release this Tuesday and is looking very promising and even has a similar multiplayer game style as Lord of the Rings: Conquest. But will the game be the blockbuster hit that many believe the movie will be or will it be left in the shadows of this year’s best games? With the recent releases of some of the best games ever made such as Assassin’s Creed II, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, Left 4 Dead 2 and Uncharted 2; it will be hard for Avatar The Game to win over hardcore video game fans and sell copies to anybody who isn’t a fan of the movie. Hit the jump for a HD video preview of the multiplayer gameplay from Avatar The Game. (more…)

There are no extras during or after the credits of Uncharted 2: Among Thieves besides symbols found throughout the game used as line breaks. There are, however, some interesting “Thanks” given to other game development studios: Guerrilla Games (Killzone), Insomniac Games (Resistance), Sucker Punch (inFamous), Bungie (Halo) and Infinity Ward (Call of Duty).

  • Nigeria Isn’t Too Happy with Sony 0 CommentsPosted by Paul Curtin on September 21, 2009 under Movie News, Video Game News

This Summer’s blockbuster hit District 9 was highly controversial due to many people, especially those in Nigeria, believing that the movie portrayed Nigerians negatively as cannibalistic thugs. As a result, the Nigerian Information Minister is requesting that all Nigerian movie theaters no longer show District 9, confiscate all copies, edit and/or remove offensive scenes, and has written to Sony asking for an ‘unconditional apology’. • Secret Multiplayer Characters Revealed for Killzone 2 0 CommentsPosted by Paul Curtin on April 1, 2009 under Video Game News

Well it’s April 1, 2009 and like always game developers have started having their April Fool’s Day fun by releasing all sorts of bogus news information. Guerilla Games has announced via their official site that:

It looks like the cat’s out of the bag: yes, it’s now possible to play as Visari in the Killzone 2 multiplayer mode. Several players spotted the Helghast head honcho online following the v1.21 update, and the Internet has been rife with speculation since.

There are also two button combinations listed on the site that supposedly unlock the characters Radec and Visari. Obviously these codes do not work when entered and this is all part of a April Fool’s joke. There is even a link on the site to see “video of the new multiplayer characters in action” however it is not a video of gameplay and instead a video that says “You’ve been Killzoned!!” Click the jump to see the video. • Killzone 2: Extras During and After Credits 0 CommentsPosted by Paul Curtin on March 2, 2009 under Extras During Credits, No Post-credits Scene, Playstation 3, Post-credits Extra, Video Games

During the beginning of the Killzone 2 credits there are extra animations of the characters, weapons and settings from the game. After that there are just floating cubes shown in the background of the credits. There also isn’t anything extra after the credits besides a special “Thank You For Playing” in text.

Are the extras during the credits worth waiting around for?
