  • Lost Planet 2 now mixed with Gears of War? 0 CommentsPosted by Paul Curtin on January 27, 2010 under Video Game News, Video Game Trailers

What the hell is going on? Just a couple days ago it was announced that the Game of the Year Uncharted 2 was was releasing a downloadable character pack for $4.99 that would allow people to play as many of the most recognizable characters from Playstation’s biggest games in multiplayer.

Now, Capcom has released a teaser trailer that shows Marcus Fenix and Dom Santiago from the Gears of War series fighting in the Lost Planet 2 universe. The trailer ends with the Gears of War logo behind the Lost Planet 2 logo. Will this be a feature that comes standard with the game, be downloadble content or online multiplayer only? Your guess is as good as mine cause this trailer has me left scratching my head and wondering why all these games are turning into next-gen Super Smash Bros. Check out the trailer after the break. • New Uncharted 2 FREE DLC this Thanksgiving 0 CommentsPosted by Paul Curtin on November 26, 2009 under Video Game News

I can’t figure out what Naughty Dog loves more, its fans or the holidays. After releasing Uncharted 2 only one month ago back in October, Naughty Dog has been hard at work improving the game with patches and creating new content for future releases. During the Halloween weekend, Naughty Dog gave Uncharted 2 players free skeleton skins and double XP rewards for multiplayer. Now for Thanksgiving, Naughty Dog is going above and beyond by not only giving fans free Doughnut Drake and Lazarevic skins and double XP for multiplayer, but also releasing leaderboards and a FREE multiplayer map. That’s right, I said FREE DLC, something that is rare in today’s economy. I can’t wait to see what they give out on Christmas. Hit the jump for more details and video of the new multiplayer map. • Fallout 3 Broken Steel DLC Now Available 0 CommentsPosted by Paul Curtin on May 5, 2009 under Video Game News

Fallout 3 (one of the best games of last year) is coming out with yet another DLC expansion on PC and Xbox 360. While I have to admit I sent my copy of Fallout 3 back to Gamefly after I beat it and have not played any of the expansions, I’m still pretty impressed with all the expansions that Bethesda has been releasing to keep their game alive and Fallout fans happy. Those of you that still have your copy of the game can purchase the DLC for 800 MS Points ($10).

  • Resident Evil 5 Killed by Dated Controls and Lack of Features 0 CommentsPosted by Paul Curtin on March 27, 2009 under Video Game Reviews

Four years ago I played Resident Evil 4 and was blown away. Not only did the game breathe new life into the Resident Evil series, but it took a risk with a new camera style that previous 3rd person shooters had never thought to use. The risk turned out to be well worth it as Resident Evil 4 went on to win multiple Game of the Year awards and the over the shoulder camera style became the new standard in 3rd person shooters. Game developer CliffyB (Cliff Belinski) even cited Resident Evil 4’s over the shoulder style as one of the key inspirations in the making of the now infamous Gears of War franchise. (more…)

  • New Gears of War 2 Map Pack and Patch Announced 0 CommentsPosted by Paul Curtin on March 14, 2009 under Video Game News

Finally after four months and two other patches it looks like Epic Games might actually fix Gears of War 2. Don’t get me wrong, Gears of War 2 is one of my favorite games of all time; however, since its release back in November 2008 its been close to unplayable due to all of the problems. While Epic has been working hard and has already released two other patches trying to fix things, the main problems still exist such as an overpowered chainsaw, slow matchmaking process, pointless ranking system, lag and worst of all the ability for players to standby. On March 24 Epic will release the Title Update 3 patch that will hopefully fix all of these problems. Epic has also announced that on March 31 the Snowblind map pack with three new maps and one of my personal favorites (Fuel Depot) from the original Gears of War will be released as DLC. Click the jump to get full details on the map pack and patch notes. (more…)
