This month’s issue of Entertainment Weekly will feature a first look at Ryan Reynolds in the new Green Lantern costume. The new costume has been completely redesigned from the original look featured in the classic comic book series and is completely rendered in CGI. Reynolds (who also plays Deadpool in the Marvel X-Men franchise) has adopted the role of DC Comics’ fan favorite, Hal Jordan, a test pilot who becomes the first human ever selected to join a brotherhood of warriors sworn to keep intergalactic order. Right now we just have an image of this week’s Entertainment Weekly cover, but there’s sure to be plenty of new Green Lantern news over the next couple weeks with EW hitting store shelves tomorrow and the 2010 San Diego Comic-Con starting next week.

THR is reporting that Chris Evans (The Human Torch from the Fantastic Four) has accepted the role of Captain America in the upcoming The First Avenger: Captain America movie.

What is it with all these superhero movies casting the same actors to play different superheroes? First Ryan Reynolds playing both Deadpool and the Green Lantern, now Evans playing the Human Torch and Captain America. You would think studios would want a unique face for their leading role, not someone who is already playing a superhero in another current franchise.

Our Review: N/A
Running Time: 107 minutes
Credits Running Time: 8 minutes
Are the post-credits scenes worth sticking around for?

During the Credits (spoilers)

There is an extra scene that shows Colonel William Stryker walking down a road with his shoes ripped open and his feet bleeding due to how far he has walked. A military unit is shown finding and telling him that he’s wanted for questioning in connection with the death of General Munson. This is in reference to the end of the movie where Kayla tells Stryker to walk until his feet bleed and then keep walking.

After the Credits (spoilers)

Director Gavin Hood has said that they’ve hidden multiple alternate post-credit scenes on different prints and theaters will be showing different versions.

There is an extra scene after the credits that shows Wolverine at a bar in Japan drinking shots of whiskey. After asking for another shot, the Japanese bartender asks him if he is American. Wolverine responds, “Canadian… I think.” She then asks if he’s drinking to forget and he replies, “No. I’m drinking to remember.” This is in reference to the end of the movie where Stryker shoots Wolverine in the head with a adamantium bullet that erases his memory.

The other post-credits scene zooms in on the rubble and on Deadpool’s arm reaching out from beneath it. You see his head, and then his hand grasps his head and his eyes pop open. Deadpool’s mouth has broken free and glaring with a knowing sparkle in his eye at the camera, he simply says, “SHHH…” as the camera cuts to black.

Special thanks to Autumn for the 2nd post-credits scene confirmation.
