    What the hell is going on? Just a couple days ago it was announced that the Game of the Year Uncharted 2 was was releasing a downloadable character pack for $4.99 that would allow people to play as many of the most recognizable characters from Playstation’s biggest games in multiplayer.

    Now, Capcom has released a teaser trailer that shows Marcus Fenix and Dom Santiago from the Gears of War series fighting in the Lost Planet 2 universe. The trailer ends with the Gears of War logo behind the Lost Planet 2 logo. Will this be a feature that comes standard with the game, be downloadble content or online multiplayer only? Your guess is as good as mine cause this trailer has me left scratching my head and wondering why all these games are turning into next-gen Super Smash Bros. Check out the trailer after the break.     Capcom has announced that a port of the Dreamcast version of Marvel vs. Capcom 2 will be released in HD for Xbox Live Arcade as well as the PlayStation Network this summer. Marvel’s latest financial report has it scheduled for June 29, 2009. The demo is currently available exclusively on the Playstation Network.

    IGN has recently released some key notes from the making of Dead Rising 2 panel at GDC 2009. Here’s all you need to know:

    Laura Scholl, the Product Manager of mental mill confirmed that Dead Rising 2 will frequently track at soleast 800 separate clothing textures to provide the sense of unique zombies onscreen. What’s more, thanks to the elements that Blue Castle are using from mental mill to quickly mass produce characters for the game engine, players could experience as many as 6000 characters onscreen during multiplayer sessions.

    Four years ago I played Resident Evil 4 and was blown away. Not only did the game breathe new life into the Resident Evil series, but it took a risk with a new camera style that previous 3rd person shooters had never thought to use. The risk turned out to be well worth it as Resident Evil 4 went on to win multiple Game of the Year awards and the over the shoulder camera style became the new standard in 3rd person shooters. Game developer CliffyB (Cliff Belinski) even cited Resident Evil 4’s over the shoulder style as one of the key inspirations in the making of the now infamous Gears of War franchise. (more…)
