  • Avatar Has Become the Highest Grossing Movie of All Time 0 CommentsPosted by Paul Curtin on January 26, 2010 under Movie News

It’s official, thanks to inflation and increases in ticket prices due to 3D, James Cameron’s Avatar has surpassed James Cameron’s Titanic as the top grossing movie of all time. That’s right, the highest two grossing films of all time were both directed by James Cameron. Although when adjusting for inflation, Gone With the Wind is still the highest with a $400 million worldwide gross in 1939 translating to $6 billion today. Check out a full list of the highest grossing films of all time here.

  • Official MacGruber HD Trailer 0 CommentsPosted by Paul Curtin on January 21, 2010 under Movie News, Movie Trailers

Back in March of 2009 when this site first starting doing news, I wrote about MacGyver coming back, but this time to the big screen. While I wasn’t too excited about the popular television series coming back in movie form, I made the comment that I’d much rather see a MacGruber movie. Well, it looks like somebody from Universal Pictures read my post and decided I was right. All kidding aside, for people who still don’t know who or what MacGruber is, it’s one of the only funny sketches that Saturday Night Live still does that pokes fun at the classic television show MacGyver. The trailer doesn’t seem too funny, but I still have high hopes for this movie. Hit the jump for the official HD trailer. (more…)

  • Funny User-made Rap Videos Based on ’80s Classics 0 CommentsPosted by Paul Curtin on November 26, 2009 under Movie News

If there’s one thing that I’m thankful for this Thanksgiving, it’s user made rap videos based on the plots of ’80s classics. The latest YouTube hit from Futuristic Sex Robotz is based on the first Back to the Future movie. It’s done very well, but still not as good as the RoboCop rap by The Anomalies released last year on YouTube. Hit the jump for rap videos based on Back to the Future, RoboCop, Terminator 2 and Predator. (more…)

  • Crysis Back to the Future Mod 0 CommentsPosted by Paul Curtin on November 24, 2009 under Movie News, Video Game News

Most people have never heard of the video game Crysis, because most people will never own a computer capable of playing Crysis. Released back in 2007, Crysis is a science fiction first person shooter based in the year 2020, where an ancient alien spacecraft has been discovered by North Korea beneath the ground on an island in the East Philippines. The player takes control of a U.S. Army Special Forces unit named Nomad as the United States invades the island in an effort to stop the North Koreans from discovering the advanced technology of the aliens and potentially using it against the world.

The clear advantage that Crysis has over every other game ever made is the graphics. There’s no game that comes close to Crysis’ graphics and even top of the line gaming computers are not able to run the game on its highest settings. The power behind the Crytek Engine is insane, and to prove it, a recent mod has been released based on the popular franchise Back to the Future. The mod allows the player to drive a fully functional DeLorean that is capable of time travel when hitting 88 mph… That’s right, instant time travel in a video game. Even if you’re not a fan of video games, you have to check out this video, especially the end! You can download the full mod here and play it yourself if you already own Crysis. If not, you can still check out the video below. Hit the jump for the full video. (more…)

  • R2D2 in J.J. Abrams’ Star Trek?! Worlds are Colliding! 0 CommentsPosted by Paul Curtin on November 21, 2009 under Movie News

Now that J.J. Abrams’ 2009 reboot of Star Trek is available on Blu-ray and DVD, fanboys have been carefully going over ever second of footage in order to find the hidden R2D2 cameo that has been rumored to occur somewhere during the film. It happens so quick (1-2 seconds) that the only way to catch it would be by going frame by frame in high definition at the time frame 45:42. I don’t know much about Star Trek or Star Wars lore — but according to George Costanza, aren’t worlds supposed to explode when something like this happens? I mean he was a Marine Biologist. They study space right? Check out the HQ pics after the jump. (more…)

  • Nigeria Isn’t Too Happy with Sony 0 CommentsPosted by Paul Curtin on September 21, 2009 under Movie News, Video Game News

This Summer’s blockbuster hit District 9 was highly controversial due to many people, especially those in Nigeria, believing that the movie portrayed Nigerians negatively as cannibalistic thugs. As a result, the Nigerian Information Minister is requesting that all Nigerian movie theaters no longer show District 9, confiscate all copies, edit and/or remove offensive scenes, and has written to Sony asking for an ‘unconditional apology’. • District 9 Unique Marketing Campaign Begins 1 CommentsPosted by Paul Curtin on June 4, 2009 under Movie News, Movie Trailers

If you haven’t heard of District 9 yet, the marketing team behind Tristar Pictures is doing their best to inform you in some unique ways. Similar to the Cloverfield viral marketing campaign, District 9’s official site is supposedly run by Multi-National United, a fake company that will be featured in the film. There are also more fake websites, billboards, and other advertisements popping up as the release date gets closer. District 9 is set for release on August 14th, 2009 and is being directed by Neill Blomkamp and produced by Peter Jackson who were supposed to be working on the Halo movie, but due to a disagreement over distribution rights suspended production. Hit the jump for pictures, links and HD trailers. (more…)
