Thor Trailer Leaked from Comic-Con 2010

The same Thor trailer shown exclusively during Marvel’s panel at Comic-Con last weekend, has already made its way on to the internet. Set for release on May 6, 2011, Thor will be the next movie in the Avengers franchise and will take place right where Iron Man 2‘s extra scene after the credits left off.

Thor is being directed by Kenneth Branagh and stars: Chris Hemsworth as Thor, Natalie Portman, Tom Hiddleston, Anthony Hopkins, Rene Russo, Stellan Skarsgard, Jaimie Alexander, Kat Dennings, Ray Stevenson, Josh Dallas, Tadanobu Asano, Idris Elba, Clark Gregg, and Colm Feore. Here’s an synopsis from an official Marvel press release:

The Mighty Thor, a powerful but arrogant warrior whose reckless actions reignite an ancient war. Thor is cast down to Earth and forced to live among humans as punishment. Once here, Thor learns what it takes to be a true hero when the most dangerous villain of his world sends the darkest forces of Asgard to invade Earth.

Sucker Punch HD Trailer from Comic-Con 2010

After viewing the the trailer for Zack Snyder’s upcoming sci-fi action flick “Sucker Punch” from this year’s Comic-Con, all I can say is that I have no idea what I just watched, but I do know that it looked awesome, just like director Zack Snyder’s previous films 300 and Watchmen. But unlike 300 and Watchmen where Snyder just directed, he will be both writing and directing Sucker Punch. Set for release March 25, 2011, Sucker Punch stars: Emily Browning, Abbie Cornish, Vanessa Hudgens, Jamie Chung, Jena Malone, Carla Gugino, Jon Hamm, Scott Glenn, and Oscar Isaac. For everyone else who had no idea what was going on in the trailer, here’s a synopsis from Snyder:

Set in the 1950s, [Sucker Punch] tells the story of Baby Doll (Browning), who is trying to hide from the pain caused by her evil stepfather and lobotomy. She ends up in mental institution in Brattleboro, Vermont and while there she starts to imagine alternative reality. She plans to escape from that imaginary world but to do that she needs to steal five objects before she is caught by a vile man. She has 5 days to escape before being lobotomized. In order to cope with the situation, she enters the hyper-real world of her imagination, and the lines between reality and dream begin to blur. She is joined with friends who are inmates from the institution. Lessons learned in the said fantasy world could help the girls escape their real-world fate.

Avengers Cast Revealed at Comic-Con 2010

After rumors of Edward Norton getting into disputes with the producers over what scenes should make the final cut in 2008′s Incredible Hulk remake, there has been tons of speculation over whether Norton would reprise his role as the Hulk in the upcoming Avengers movies, set for release over the next couple years. That speculation can now be laid to rest after Marvel had the stars of the upcoming Avengers series make an appearance at the end of this year’s Captain America and Thor Comic-Con panel.

Marvel announced that Norton is no longer attached to the series, and Mark Ruffalo (Zodiac) is officially the new Bruce Banner aka the Incredible Hulk. In addition to Marvel’s announcement about Mark Ruffalo being cast as the new Hulk, Jeremy Renner (The Hurt Locker) also made it up on stage to confirm that he will be playing another one of Marvel’s superheros, Hawkeye.

New “Gut-Ripping” Red Band Trailer for Machete

Based on the fake trailer Robert Rodriguez directed for his 2007 film Grindhouse, Machete centers around the character Machete Cortez who after being betrayed by the organization who hired him, launches a brutal rampage of revenge against his former boss. Machete is set for release on September 3, 2010 and stars Danny Trejo, Michelle Rodriguez, Cheech Marin, Lindsay Lohan, Don Johnson, Jessica Alba, Steven Seagal, and Robert De Niro. IGN has an exclusive “gut-ripping” red band trailer that features Machete killing tons of bad guys in just about every way possible, including using a guy’s intestines as a rope swing to jump out of a window with, yep, that happens. Street Fighter X Tekken Officially Announced at Comic-Con 2010

Two weeks ago at the the conclusion of the world’s biggest fighting game tournament, EVO 2010, the original developers of both Street Fighter and Tekken took the stage to tease fans in attendance of a possible mashup of their favorite games in development. Although no information was given by Yoshiki Okamoto (creator of Street Fighter) and Katsuhiro Harada (creator of Tekken) at EVO 2010, they promised that they would announce what they’ve been working on at this year’s Comic-Con, and fans of both series would be thrilled with the announcement.

After much speculation over what Okamoto and Harada were secretly developing, both made true on their promises and it looks like everyone’s wishes are coming true and there is in-fact a Street Fighter vs. Tekken game in development by Capcom, and a separate Tekken X Street Fighter game in development by Namco Bandai. In addition to the huge announcement being dropped on fans in attendance at Comic-Con, fans were also treated to both a teaser trailer and a sneak peak at gameplay featuring Ryu vs. Devil Jin.
